Back in mid-November, we finished up the major renovation work on Loki and it was time to take him out for an overnight shake-down trip. We chose a place about an hour from our house that has an Army Corps of Engineers campground on the Chattahoochee River. The most amazing part about this campground, other than it’s beauty, is that it is totally free. You can read more about the campground with plenty of specific details over on our travel blog Shanty Travelers.
The Florence Marina is in a nearby state park and we drove through there first to check out their campground and facilities.

Then we made our way over to the free campground. Not only was it free, it was far more inviting and peaceful.

Edgar and I sat a while watching the river and knitting, while Scott wandered off to shoot photos and attempt to catch some fish. The photo shoot was successful, fishing not so much.
That evening, we left the shades out of the side of the van facing the river and this was our view for the late evening.

I made some good progress on my sweater, but will save that update for a future post. Until then, enjoy the views and drop me a line (comment below).

Amid all the hustle and bustle of this busy season it was great to slow down & live vicariously through our good friends who seem to know how to enjoy peace & calm in life & actually make it happen!! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
